Some accidents are unavoidable but I think almost all of them can be prevented if the rider is really concentrating on what's going on around him. There is always the possibility of a totally unpredictable situation that no amount of awareness can prepare you for, of course, like a falling branch from a tree landing on you. You might call these acts of God accidents, though God has nothing to do with them. But a short prayer before each ride might be a good habit to practice to take care of the unpredictable or invisible hazards.
